Biography

Kara graduated Summa Cum Laude from Lynchburg College in 2008 with a degree in Athletic Training. Upon completing her bachelor’s degree, she attended Eastern Virginia Medical School to become a Physician Assistant and has been practicing since 2011. She has worked in Emergency and Urgent Care settings for over 10 years.

Kara has a passion for oncology and merged this interest with acute care medicine to create an Urgent Care program for the patients of VOA. Since joining the practice in 2022, she developed the Comprehensive Assessment Rapid Evaluation (C.A.R.E.) Clinic program and implemented it in two locations. One clinic is located at the Brock Cancer Center in Norfolk and the other is located at Port Warwick III in Newport News. One of her duties in the C.A.R.E. clinic is to perform lumbar punctures which administers chemotherapy into the spinal cord.

In 2023, she was promoted to Advanced Practice Provider Supervisor for the Southside.

In her free time, Kara enjoys camping and traveling with her husband, three sons, three dogs, and cat.
