Biography
Dr. Taha Sheikh obtained his medical degree at Dow University School of Health Sciences where he graduated with the highest honors. Dr. Sheikh then moved to the United States to pursue his career in medicine. He completed his internship, residency, and fellowship at the University of Toledo College of Medicine in Ohio. During his training, he received numerous accolades, including induction into the Gold Humanism Society, for best teaching resident, among others. Dr. Sheikh revels in teaching his teammates and students alike. By extension of the same motivation, Dr. Sheikh is also passionate about community engagement and awareness campaigns related to cancer for the masses.
As a trainee, Dr. Sheikh participated in many research projects, including morbidity and mortality-related outcomes due to COVID-19 in cancer patients. He has published multiple peer-reviewed manuscripts in prestigious medical journals, including the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Blood, Journal of American Medical Association, and British Medical Journal. Dr. Sheikh has presented his work at different National conferences. In due pursuit, he has won several awards, including the President’s Choice Award for best poster at the American College of Gastroenterology Annual Symposium.
Dr. Sheikh has always actively engaged in patient advocacy as well as utilization management projects by participating in quality control teams, identifying various health inequities in our system.
He is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American Society of Hematology. Dr. Sheikh treats all forms of Hematologic and Oncologic disorders.
Dr. Sheikh’s driving principle is empathy, and he is committed to providing personalized cancer care. His approach is patient-centric, valuing patients’ perspectives in their care, and designing treatment regimens that best suit them. He revels in teaching patients more about their diagnoses to empower them in their own care. Dr. Sheikh prides himself in being an ally and providing compassionate care.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Sheikh enjoys quality time with his family, traveling, hiking, video games, soccer, swimming, Scrabble (he was crowned National Scrabble Champion in the College category), and foreign culture and language learning. Dr. Sheikh is fluent in five languages: English, Urdu, Hindi, Sindhi, and Punjabi, and is actively learning Spanish and Japanese.
